Dr. Lyndi Gilliam was raised in Wyoming and grew up showing quarter horses, particularly working cow horses. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with her DVM and then entered private practice in Dalhart, Texas. After 2 years in private practice she returned to Oklahoma State University for an Equine Internal Medicine residency. During her residency she started a PhD investigating the effects of rattlesnake venom on the horse's heart. Following her residency she joined the faculty at Oklahoma State University where she is now a professor of Equine Internal Medicine. Her research has centered around the effects of snake venom as well as treatments for envenomation. She has published a variety of clinical studies from thromboelastography to pharmacology. Along with research, she thoroughly enjoys teaching and mentoring the next generation of veterinarians.
