This module explores the complex relationship between the accredited veterinarian, Category I animals, and foreign animal diseases. Several foreign animal diseases associated with Category 1 animals are discussed. Also discussed are the impacts of foreign animal diseases and the importance of mitigating those impacts. Resources to help accredited veterinarians keep current on foreign animal disease situations worldwide are provided.
