For many years, it has been recognized that there is a shortage or maldistribution of veterinarians in rural mixed or food animal practice. This talk will discuss the current data and the interventions that have been implemented to solve this complex problem. The presentation will evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions as well as possible methods that each veterinarian can do to improve recruitment and retention in rural mixed animal or food animal practice.
