This discussion in intended to be a review of the anatomy and function of the suspensory apparatus, as well as a review of the clinical signs of desmitis of the origin, body and branches of the suspensory ligament. Techniques for localizing lameness originating from the suspensory ligament, diagnostic imaging techniques to confirm the presences of suspensory desmitis and the medical and surgical management of suspensory desmitis and prognosis will be discussed
