Spaying and Neutering Exotic Small Mammals: The Technician’s Role

Technicians spend a lot of time educating clients about the importance of preventive procedures, as well as helping them understand when a procedure is medically required. Exotic pets have some key anatomical and physiological differences from other companion animals that technicians should be comfortable discussing with clients. This lecture will help technicians understand whether or not these procedures should be done to prevent disease and how to technically manage the patient throughout the procedure from options for sedation and anesthesia to positioning and patient monitoring.
